Its’ not to everyone’s liking, but there is always the “ For Dummies” Series. Those books can be very good (though not uniformly so) and surprisingly technical at times and clearly then not for Dummies. Since I don’t know you or anyone else’s back. Best math books. 1. Each Orange Had 8 Slices: A Counting Book by Paul Giganti, Jr & Donald Crews. This book is available from Amazon or Booktopia. This is a fantastic book to help kids with the skills of problem solving and multiplication. Each page includes a little story and then questions about the story. For example, one of the stories is. The book consists of an overview of much of mathematics through what's normally taught in the first ~two years of undergrad, with a few extra bonuses (projective geometry!), but with little to no linear algebra (boo!). The book spends nearly all its time focusing on motivations and ideas, and much less on mechanical details/5(47).

Primary Mathematics 1A and 1B. Book 1A begins with the assumption that children already have a basic sense and recognition of numbers. It begins with counting to 10, but by the fourth unit of the first book, students are learning subtraction. Single-digit multiplication is introduced in 1B, with division introduced very briefly immediately.   Mathematics education begins and proceeds in language, it advances or stumbles because of language, and its outcomes are often assessed in language. "Language and Mathematical Educuation" presents current perspectives and reviews the key issues.

It doesn't need to be that difficult. Our math books are for all study levels. It was the Pythagoreans who coined the term "mathematics", and with whom the study of mathematics for its own sake begins. The Pythagoreans are credited with the first proof of the Pythagorean theorem, [40] though the statement of the theorem has a long history, and with the proof of the existence of irrational numbers.

Seeking guidance, I read Allen Rosales’s book Mathematizing: An Emergent Math Curriculum Approach for Young Children (). His description of labeling, sportscasting (in which teachers narrate the mathematical aspects of children’s activities), and asking open-ended questions seemed ideal for the toddlers as well as the undergraduates.

The author begins and ends the book with familiar examples of present-day Internet hoaxes and encourages healthy skepticism by urging readers to ask themselves, “Would I have been fooled?” Kids will enjoy reading about how people were so easily fooled, and the resource list at the back of the book will encourage further research.
